Job Title: Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate

Job Summary:

The Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate will provide support and advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse, ensuring their safety and well-being. This role requires a strong understanding of domestic abuse dynamics and the ability to provide confidential and non-judgmental support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 response to victims of domestic abuse, offering support and guidance.
  • Establish and maintain safety plans for victims, working closely with treatment managers and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Family Advocacy Treatment Manager and Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist to ensure comprehensive support for victims.
  • Develop and maintain contact files for each victim, documenting their needs and progress.
  • Provide information and referrals to victims, connecting them with local resources and services.
  • Support victims in decision-making, empowering them to take control of their lives.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of installation DA policies and protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Family Advocacy Nurse to ensure continuity of care for victims.
  • Participate in outreach and education activities to promote awareness and prevention of domestic abuse.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as social work, psychology, or counseling.
  • Minimum two years of experience in victim advocacy or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, understand, speak, and write English fluently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Advocate credential with Comprehensive Intervention Specialist designation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support certification.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this role include sitting, talking, and hearing, with occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
