KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  1. Ensure efficient and productive operations within the CASTHOUSE/AGE/TRANSFER areas.
  2. Oversee the quality and quantity of materials processed in the aging ovens.
  3. Monitor and manage the aging ovens effectively.
  4. Operate the billet saw with precision.
  5. Utilize the forklift for material handling.
  6. Gain proficiency in the Epics System for operational tasks.
  7. Conduct quality inspections using measuring tools such as tape measures and Websters.
  8. Identify defective materials through visual inspection.
  9. Maintain a steady flow of materials throughout the production process.
  10. Perform maintenance tasks as required.
  11. Uphold cleanliness and organization in the casthouse and aging oven areas.

QUALIFICATIONS: To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED is required. Basic computer skills are essential, and forklift experience is preferred. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive tasks, and stand for extended periods. Familiarity with converting fractions to decimals and using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, protractors, and squares is important.


MATH SKILLS: Candidates must possess the ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Skills in computing rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs are also required.


REASONING ABILITY: The ability to apply common sense to follow detailed written or oral instructions is crucial. Candidates should be capable of addressing problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position may involve indirect supervision of managers within the facility. Responsibilities include conducting interviews, hiring and training employees, planning and directing work, evaluating performance, and addressing employee concerns.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical requirements for this position include regular sitting and talking or hearing. Occasional standing, walking, and using hands for handling or feeling are necessary. Candidates must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and possess specific vision abilities, including close vision and depth perception.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may expose employees to extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, and high places. The noise level is typically loud, and reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
