About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Geotechnical Specialist to join our dynamic GeoEnvironmental team at Rettew Associates. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to apply their expertise in soil science while working on exciting projects.
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to lead soil investigations, prepare technical reports, and conduct field inspections on stormwater BMPs during the construction phase. The selected individual will also be responsible for conducting percolation testing in support of on-lot sewage disposal projects, logging geotechnical boreholes, and preparing log profiles according to the United Soil Classification System (USCS).
Responsibilities:
- Lead soil investigations for stormwater infiltration.
- Prepare technical reports based on the results of soil investigations.
- Conduct field inspections on stormwater BMPs during the construction phase.
- Conduct percolation testing in support of on-lot sewage disposal projects.
- Log geotechnical boreholes and prepare log profiles according to the United Soil Classification System (USCS).
- Assist in Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II subsurface investigations.
- Conduct environmental field investigations (soil and groundwater sampling) using prescribed methods.
- Data reduction and preparation of laboratory data.
- Consult senior project staff about regulations concerning project issues; assist in researching applicable regulations.
- Assist with various permit applications and specifications for project compliance needs.
- Assist with conducting geophysical surveys.
Requirements:
- Two to five years of experience in soil evaluations, environmental consulting, and geotechnical investigations are preferred.
- Degree in Soil Science and/or related Environmental Science Discipline with a strong emphasis on Soil Science.
- Desire to learn a wide variety of disciplines but focusing mainly on Soil Science and related technical areas.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER trained a plus.
- Periodic overnight travel, occasional project-specific extended travel.
- Word and Excel proficient; GIS and/or CAD experience a plus.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
