Licensed Psychiatric Technician

Amergis is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Psychiatrist/MD to provide high-quality patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include administering therapeutic procedures, techniques, treatments, or medications to enable patients to make optimal use of their therapeutic regime. You will also be responsible for managing patient care effectively and safely, promoting good interpersonal relationships with patients, family, and healthcare staff, and working collaboratively with other disciplines to provide a comprehensive treatment program. Key duties and responsibilities include:

Administering medications and treatments, including oral medications, hypodermic injections, urinary catheterizations, enemas, and taking and charting temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration

Observing clients' physical condition and behavior and reporting significant changes to the unit supervisor or physician and recording nursing notes on clients

Preparing and caring for clients during treatments

Participating as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessments of the clients

Assisting in the training of Psychiatric Technician Trainees, Psychiatric Technician Apprentices, Psychiatric Technician Students, Psychiatric Technician Training Candidates, and other ancillary staff as appropriate

Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Current Licensed Psychiatric Technician license for the state in which the technician practices (LPT only)

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong spoken, written, listening, and nonverbal communication skills

One year of psychiatric experience in a similar setting within the last three years preferred

Proficiency in the English language is required
