Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Welding Adjunct Instructor to join our team at Paul D. Camp Community College. As an adjunct faculty member, you will provide instruction and coordination in the application of welding processes, preparing students for welding in a shipyard environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach welding courses to students, focusing on the application of welding processes and preparation for welding in a shipyard environment.
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students and industry partners.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to improve student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Stay current with industry developments and best practices in welding education.

Requirements:

  • American Welding Society (AWS) certification.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in the application of welding processes in an industrial workplace setting.
  • Considerable knowledge of welding principles and applications.
  • Considerable knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) guidelines.
  • Demonstrated skill in the application of welding processes in an industrial workplace setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of instruction and engage in a positive academic environment to support students with varying academic and other supportive needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and other college stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software and applications, and personal computers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding.
  • Teaching experience at the community college level.
  • Welding experience in a shipyard.
