Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Product Test Engineer to join our dynamic R&D team at Southwest Electronic Energy (SWE). This role is pivotal in ensuring that our products adhere to the highest quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with both R&D and production teams, contributing to the testing, enhancement, and support of SWE's battery systems and electromechanical solutions. This position offers the opportunity to apply electrical, mechanical, and software expertise in designing and maintaining various testing setups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with R&D and production teams to define product testing requirements and suggest enhancements.
  • Utilize Altium Designer for the creation and layout of printed circuit assemblies (PCAs) to facilitate effective testing and programming.
  • Employ SolidWorks to engineer durable enclosures and fixtures suitable for manufacturing environments.
  • Develop user-friendly graphical interfaces for operators to manage testing equipment using programming languages such as Python or LabVIEW.
  • Design and implement embedded firmware for microprocessor-controlled fixtures.
  • Engage with products through standard serial communication protocols including Modbus, I2C, SPI, and USB.
  • Independently diagnose and resolve issues with existing testing setups, particularly during production cycles.
  • Document designs and operational procedures for testing fixtures to ensure ongoing support.
  • Analyze test outcomes and prepare reports for distribution.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in test engineering or developing production testing equipment.
  • Proven experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Familiarity with Altium Designer or similar software.
  • Experience with embedded software development tools, including compilers and IDEs.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, LabVIEW, C, C++, and C#.
  • Knowledgeable in serial communication standards like Modbus, CAN, and USB.
  • Ability to use SolidWorks or similar tools for mechanical design.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of quality standards and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with battery technologies and battery management systems (BMS).
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE or LT SPICE.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

Physical Requirements

The role may require occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision capabilities include close vision and the use of a microscope. Regular sitting, talking, and hearing are essential, along with frequent use of hands for handling equipment. The position may also involve prolonged periods of standing or sitting. Occasional travel may be necessary.
