Job Responsibilities

  1. Display and Merchandising
  • Set up and maintain fresh seafood displays, ensuring products are properly signed and well-merchandised according to company standards.
  • Showcase quality and freshness to drive sales in the department.
Sales Floor Maintenance
  • Keep aisles and common walking areas clean and clear of boxes and debris to prevent injury.
Replenishment and Processing
  • Unload and break down deliveries, and replenish products to meet customer needs and rotate for freshness.
  • Process and prepare seafood products, including skinning, cleaning, and cutting upon customer request.
  • Use equipment appropriately and maintain accurate logs in accordance with company policies and state food safety regulations.
Stocking and Distribution
  • Stock, ship, and distribute product items to production teams, following the First-In First-Out (FIFO) method.
  • Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures to ensure company standards and required regulations are met.
Customer Service
  • Proactively engage with customers and provide excellent service.
Inventory Management
  • Conduct monthly inventory counts with other team members.
Fish Tank Maintenance
  • Clean seafood tanks and change appliances regularly to maintain freshness and quality of products.
Cleaning and Sanitation
  • Clean and sanitize display cases, scales, and counters in accordance with company policy.
Quality Control
  • Inspect the quality of seafood products and remove unmarketable items to maintain the overall appeal of the department.
Sales and Customer Support
  • Cut, wrap, and pack items accurately and efficiently at customer request.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous seafood department experience.
  • Knowledge of general seafood product lines or similar experience.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, or rotating schedules.

Skills

  • Effective communication with customers and team members.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and company policies.
  • Inspection and evaluation of product quality.
  • Proper training and knowledge of equipment operation.

Physical Demands

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Good manual dexterity for processing equipment.
  • Lifting items weighing 30 lbs or more with proper equipment.
  • Occasional work in temperatures ranging from 32°F to 50°F.
