Position Overview

The Specialty Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical services to outpatients and visitors at the Medical University Hospital and Clinics. This role involves collaborating with nursing and medical staff to address inquiries regarding medication management and usage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert counseling to patients and healthcare professionals on medication-related inquiries.
  • Ensure accurate and timely dispensing of medications in accordance with medical guidelines.
  • Engage in patient management and quality improvement initiatives within the Specialty Pharmacy.

Work Environment

This position is part of the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) and operates under a structured employee framework. The role is categorized as a regular employee within the pharmacy specialty department.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and have completed a pharmacy residency program. Alternatively, two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience may be considered in lieu of residency. Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

Certifications

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, which can be obtained through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
