Position Overview:
The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County is seeking a full-time SNAP-Ed Nutritionist I, working 40 hours per week. This role is based in the Batavia, NY office.

Role Responsibilities:
The SNAP Nutritionist will focus on implementing established educational programs aimed at enhancing healthy food choices and lifestyle habits among families and individuals across various age groups in the Northwestern SNAP Region, particularly in Genesee County.

This position will also involve collaboration with fellow nutritionists to promote SNAP programming effectively.

Key Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Community Health, Health Education, Public Health, or Nursing. An Associate's degree combined with two years of relevant experience may be acceptable.
  • Relevant experience related to the position.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
  • Capability to utilize technology for virtual education.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian credential.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Familiarity with the local community and its resources.
  • Experience in food preparation and compliance with guidelines.
  • Ability to deliver engaging educational sessions to diverse audiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver high-quality nutrition education programming to adults and youth.
  • Conduct outreach through workshops, presentations, and demonstrations.
  • Adapt existing materials to meet program objectives under supervision.
  • Engage in public awareness efforts regarding SNAP programs.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to enhance program delivery.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and promoting educational events.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for program evaluation.
  • Support the coordination of program activities and resources.

Engage in ongoing professional growth and participate in required training sessions.
