The Supervising Cook II is a critical role within the Department of State Hospitals, responsible for overseeing the preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets for patients in a psychiatric health care facility. This position requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to ensure compliance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and train staff responsible for meal preparation and service
- Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen facility and equipment
- Maintain order and supervise the conduct of central kitchen staff
- Protect and maintain the safety of persons and property
- Ensure compliance with California Code of Regulations Title 22, Standard Operational Procedures, Diet Manual, California Retail Food Code, and Food & Nutrition Services Manual
- Either I: One year of experience performing the duties of a Supervising Cook I in the California state service
- Or II: Experience: Two years of experience in a supervisory capacity over cooks and allied workers with responsibility for supervising, planning, and scheduling the preparation; cooking, and serving of meals for at least 250 persons a meal
- And
- Education: Equivalent to completion of eighth grade
Face coverings are required while working on-site, and employees must follow current face covering guidance as issued by CDPH.
Special Requirements- The position requires a Drug Screening to be passed prior to being hired
- The position requires a Background Investigation to be cleared prior to being hired
- The position requires Medical Clearance prior to being hired
