Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Operating Room team at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of nursing in the Operating Room, providing leadership, direction, and technical expertise in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign and monitor the work of various staff members within the Operating Room, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient operations.
  • Provide overall supervisory duties, including planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating a nursing unit, implementing evidence-based practice principles, and promoting professional peer review.
  • Perform a full range of patient care duties, complete administrative functions, and maintain nursing skills and clinical competence in specialty areas.
  • Set up and maintain medical equipment, interpret data, and document patient care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) per policy and standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards.
  • Manage a budget that includes nursing personnel, equipment, supply purchases, travel, training, and other expenses, ensuring adequate training for staff and compliance with standards of care and patient safety.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs related to Quality Improvement, Infection Control, and other areas, applying and implementing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) guidelines.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience in operating room nursing practice, including scrubbing and circulating nursing services, providing leadership, direction, supervision, and technical expertise in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services.

You must also possess proficiency in supervisory and managerial abilities, including accountability, customer service, decisiveness, flexibility, integrity/honesty, interpersonal skills, oral communication, problem-solving, resilience, and written communication.
