Role Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant will execute routine administrative and clinical tasks to facilitate smooth office operations and support healthcare professionals in the examination and treatment of patients.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficient understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology. Competence in utilizing personal computers and relevant software applications. Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients and staff. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Skills in record management and financial tracking. Capability to gather, document, and maintain data accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in direct patient care tasks, including patient check-in, gathering medical histories, measuring vital signs, preparing medical charts, and aiding in examinations.
  • Conduct routine specialized procedures such as blood draws, catheter placements, and sterile dressing changes following established protocols. Collect and prepare laboratory samples for testing.
  • Organize examination room instruments and equipment; sterilize medical tools; dispose of contaminated materials; maintain inventory of medications and medical supplies.
  • Provide education and guidance to patients on specific medical topics within established protocols.
  • Perform administrative functions such as answering calls, welcoming patients, updating and organizing medical records, verifying patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing billing tasks.
  • Adhere to safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Requirements
This role may involve occasional exposure to challenging physical environments, including high noise levels and temperature variations. It may require handling potentially hazardous equipment and frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions. The position demands attention to safety protocols and may involve working beyond standard hours. Physical tasks may include frequent bending, occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds, and constant standing and walking.

Qualifications:

Required Certifications: One of the following nationally recognized Medical Assistant credentials is required: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent certifications from recognized organizations.
