About the Role

Ochsner Health System is seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and special tests, coordinating the implementation of new procedures, and assuming responsibility for resolving day-to-day lab technical problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and special tests, including blood banking and transfusion services
  • Coordinate the implementation of new procedures and protocols
  • Assume responsibility for resolving day-to-day lab technical problems and notify laboratory immediate supervisor or Pathologist as appropriate
  • Supervise and train laboratory staff, including medical technologists and laboratory assistants
  • Monitor laboratory specific Performance Improvement /Quality Control activities
  • Exhibit knowledge of and adherence to Institution/Department policies and procedures
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining a section that complies with the standards of accrediting/regulatory agencies
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient-related information at all times
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related degree
  • 48 months as a medical technologist
  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology as a medical laboratory scientist or international medical laboratory scientist
  • Louisiana license as a clinical laboratory scientist
