This role is under the supervision of the Production Supervisor and entails executing a range of manual labor activities in both mining and surface operations. The focus is on handling heavy machinery and performing reclamation tasks. It is crucial for the individual to carry out all assigned duties safely and effectively, while promptly reporting any concerns to their supervisor. Maintaining machinery and safety equipment in optimal condition and ensuring cleanliness in the work environment are essential responsibilities.
To qualify for this position, candidates must be at least 21 years old.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct various basic manual labor tasks, including shoveling materials, cleaning work areas, and assisting equipment operators.
- Handle explosives and utilize hand tools as required.
- Occasionally engage in more skilled operational tasks for training purposes.
- Recognize hazards and uphold a safe working environment.
- Obtain and maintain a blasting license throughout employment.
- Demonstrate the ability to work safely in diverse temperature conditions, lift heavy objects, wear safety equipment, and work overtime or at heights.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assess the work area for potential safety hazards.
- Manage salt spillage and assist with the loading of explosives.
- Operate forklifts and auxiliary equipment.
- Support repair and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate in team settings and engage in both underground and surface mining operations.
