About the Role

The Executive Director, Renewable Energy Origination will be responsible for driving the development of renewable natural gas (RNG) opportunities that align with CIM Group's strategic and financial objectives. This role will focus on building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to identify, qualify, pursue, and secure new RNG project opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Origination and Development: Identify, research, and originate RNG development opportunities that support CIM Group's platform growth across North America.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with potential counterparties and industry partners to advance RNG project opportunities.
  • Presentation and Communication: Prepare and deliver presentations to prospective clients, internal executives, and shareholders to promote RNG project opportunities.
  • Sales Pipeline Management: Build, maintain, and track qualified opportunities through a sales pipeline to ensure timely and effective follow-up.
  • Proposal Development: Track and respond to requests for proposal for RNG project development, ensuring timely and effective submission.
  • Team Management: Manage internal team activities in pursuit of each opportunity, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
  • Negotiation and Contracting: Lead negotiation, in concert with CIM Group management and outside legal counsel, of gas rights and other long-term commercial agreements.
  • Technical Advancement: Participate in technical advancement and preliminary engineering of potential solutions to ensure feasibility and viability.
  • Project Development: Work with the project development team to develop detailed budgets and timelines for each opportunity.
  • Equity and Debt Raising: Participate with CIM Group leadership to raise equity and debt for new projects and investments.
  • Travel: Travel up to 25-50% of the time to opportunity locations across North America to ensure effective relationship building and opportunity development.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or business-related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant business development experience.
  • Skills: Demonstrated success in business-to-business (B2B) sales, extensive experience in renewable energy and/or complex projects involving substantial investment and construction, direct experience working with public entities (counties, cities, and regional authorities).
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated mastery of the nuances of the renewable energy industry, familiarity with carbon accounting, RFS/LCFS programs, renewable gas standards, and renewable gas voluntary attributes.
  • Soft Skills: Effective communication skills, both written and oral, strong attention to detail, excellent proposal development and presentation skills, ability to work independently and proactively evaluate and address opportunities, capable of prioritizing and performing job functions with minimal supervision, ability to evaluate site conditions for project constructability, sound decision-making and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills, and a proven track record demonstrating a success-oriented mindset, motivated by the challenge of winning in a highly competitive market.
