Medical Billing Specialist

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for medical billing, collection, and accounts receivable procedures in a timely and accurate manner. Communicates with program staff regarding billing and collection matters. Assist with industrial billing for services performed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use the billing software to help prepare invoices (including credit memos & adjustments) in accordance with state, county, and payer-specific requirements.
- Perform pre-billing checks and audits for accuracy.
- Work with program staff and other Billing Specialists to help manage the workflow in Netsmart software to ensure service transactions are accurately processed and billing timely.
- Work with program staff and other Billing Specialists to help manage service agreements and authorizations.
- Review AR aging report and detailed balances by customer. Investigate rejected claims, work with program staff and external payers to resolve issues.
- Maintain working knowledge of current medical billing requirements and practices.
- Maintain working knowledge of the Netsmart billing system.
- Serve as a backup to the billing team including industrial billing and assist with monthly reporting and meetings.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, internal contacts, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Four years of medical billing experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Excel and Word skills.
- Ability to independently establish and complete work schedules and meet deadlines.
- Technology skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, etc.). Case management - Learn software system and become proficient.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two-year accounting degree.
- Proficient with medical billing software systems.
Work Environment:
This job operates primarily in a work-from-home and sometimes Rise's office environment.
