Job Summary:

The Charge Nurse, under the direct and indirect supervision of the Nursing Unit Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator and/or Hospital Supervisor, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care within a designated nursing unit. This position requires a strong clinical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the supervision of nursing personnel, including interviewing and recommending candidates for posted positions.
  • Support organizational goals and objectives, providing input into staff evaluations and monitoring performance.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of staffing patterns, ensuring optimal utilization of nursing resources.
  • Coordinate staff meetings and provide direction during emergency situations as delegated.
  • Participate in trend analysis for the operational budget and assist with materials management.
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of standards of client care, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate and participate in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, implement, and evaluate care.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary patient care conferences and discharge planning activities as appropriate.
  • Identify and assist in problem-solving, both intrashift and intershift, and keep Coordinators and Hospital Supervisors informed of problems and resolutions.
Requirements:
  • Three (3) years of Registered Nurse experience, with one year in a clinical specialty.
  • Two (2) years of current telemetry inpatient experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
  • One (1) year of current experience in a progressive or intermediate care unit.
  • PCCN / CCRN Certification.
