Extrusion Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Extrusion Technician to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our production processes. The successful candidate will report directly to the Manufacturing Shift Lead and will be responsible for various tasks related to the extrusion process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the shift leader at the beginning of each shift to outline a plan of action for the team, ensuring all tasks are completed effectively.
  • Prepare for machine shutdowns by ensuring all pre-planning and preparations are completed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and company guidelines at all times.
  • Complete changeovers of the extrusion line within the designated timeframes.
  • Assist in maintaining the quality and organization of extrusion tooling.
  • Set up and change print lines to meet order specifications.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of quality requirements for produced products.
  • Conduct quality checks and maintain documentation in line with ASTM standards.
  • Make necessary adjustments to product specifications to guarantee quality output.
  • Complete relevant paperwork to ensure accurate inventory tracking.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the assigned work area.
  • Support fellow extrusion technicians during start-up processes as needed.
  • Work effectively with a diverse team, leveraging various insights and ideas.
  • Engage in cross-training and skill development as directed by the shift leader.
  • Proactively identify and report issues to the shift leader, utilizing resources to resolve problems in their absence.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities in the absence of the shift leader, including the ability to enforce company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a production environment, performing similar functions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse personalities.
  • Capability to manage complex situations and work under time constraints.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety principles and relevant regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Sound judgment and discretion, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.

Within the First Three Months:
  • Complete all required training programs.
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders relevant to this role.
  • Gain a solid understanding of Atkore's Business System and the significance of your contributions to daily operations.
