About the City Manager Position

The City of Farmer City is seeking a highly skilled and experienced City Manager to lead its municipal government. As the chief executive officer, the City Manager will oversee all municipal operations, including hiring and supervising department directors, preparing and administering the annual operating and capital budget, and implementing City Council policy decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all municipal operations, including administration, public works, and utilities
  • Prepare and administer the annual operating and capital budget
  • Implement City Council policy decisions and directives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including local elected officials, state and federal officials, businesses, and community organizations
  • Procure state and federal grants and manage grant applications and reporting requirements
  • Attract new business investment into the community and manage economic development projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, planning, economic development, or a related field
  • At least four years of professional experience in a leadership position, preferably with a municipality
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and grant-procurement skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and make informed decisions
What We Offer

The City of Farmer City offers a competitive salary range of $92,500 to $110,000 DOQ/E, a comprehensive fringe benefits package, and the opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing community. Residency within the municipal corporate limits is encouraged but not required.
