Job Summary:
Shelter Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Remittance Specialist to join our team. As a Remittance Specialist, you will play a critical role in processing policy renewals, reinstatements, and changes for all lines of insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process a variety of daily work assignments to ensure accurate and timely processing of policy renewals, reinstatements, and changes.
- Match and prepare claims subrogation transactions to ensure seamless processing.
- Scan miscellaneous checks and prepare them for deposit to ensure accurate and timely payment processing.
- Prepare, correct, balance, and transmit Check 21 files on scanned payments from agent offices to ensure accurate and timely payment processing.
- Research and correct encode errors to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions.
- Process payment error advice slips to ensure accurate and timely resolution of payment errors.
Requirements:
- Basic math skills and accounting skills to balance large sums of money.
- Visual acuity and analytical skills to review renewal notices and checks, determining appropriate procedure for handling.
- Investigative and problem-solving skills to determine source of errors and make decisions for correcting.
- Accountable for complete follow-up when transactions/batches do not balance, determining cause and procedure for corrections.
- Ability to keep a steady work schedule with regular, predictable attendance to ensure a steady workflow and minimal disruption to department schedules and deadlines.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
