The Janitor Helper C directly reports to the Head Janitor (property engineer). While specific duties may differ by location, the janitor helper is tasked with essential cleaning duties, refuse disposal, and the upkeep of common areas. The ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to evolving responsibilities while maintaining a positive demeanor is essential. Union membership may be required depending on the location.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning tasks including vacuuming carpets, refuse collection, chute room maintenance, sweeping, mopping, and snow removal.
- Maintain cleanliness in common areas such as lobbies, fitness centers, party/media rooms, business centers, restrooms, and break rooms (as applicable).
- Provide relief for door staff during lunch and breaks as necessary.
- Assist with maintenance and medical emergencies as required.
- Experience in multi-family facilities; basic plumbing, minor electrical, and HVAC skills are advantageous.
- Educational qualifications as determined by union standards.
- Must be a self-motivated individual capable of multitasking; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that may necessitate working on holidays, weekends, and nights based on site needs and emergencies.
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to follow directions accurately.
