Summary
The role of the Registered Behavior Technician involves providing specialized support to students requiring Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies and Discrete Trial Training (DTT) within educational and home environments. This position entails assisting in functional assessments and developing behavior intervention plans, alongside offering training for parents and educators.
The Registered Behavior Technician implements ABA, DTT, and Social Skills Training for students with various disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and Emotional Disturbance. Responsibilities may involve working across multiple locations and with various students. Under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the technician will assist in executing functional procedures, formulating behavior support plans, and documenting therapeutic progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitates ABA and DTT services for students.

- Proficient in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), and Social Skills Training (SST).
- Familiar with safety protocols for educational and recreational settings.
- Skilled in using standard office equipment and software.
- Knowledgeable in data collection techniques.
- Understanding of the behavioral needs of children with disabilities.
- Experienced in employing strategies for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other disabilities.
- Analyze and interpret behavioral data effectively.
- Understand the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
- Complete training in ABA and Crisis Prevention Intervention.
- Assist in the reinforcement of ABA/DTT strategies.
- Demonstrate instructional techniques to colleagues.
- Implement behavioral strategies in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate effectively with parents, educators, and staff.
- Facilitate Social Skills Training sessions.
- Comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Communicate proficiently in both oral and written formats.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information.
- Dexterity for operating equipment and handling materials.
- Capability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Visual acuity to monitor student activities.
- Mobility to navigate various environments independently.
- Must successfully complete required training courses.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of higher education or an Associate's Degree in a relevant field such as psychology or child development. A minimum of two years of experience working directly with children with disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and related conditions. Completion of at least 40 hours of direct instruction in Applied Behavior Analysis is required.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid California driver's license. Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention and Applied Assaultive Training is necessary prior to employment. Completion of Autism training provided by the District is required. Valid first aid and CPR certifications, along with Registered Behavior Technician certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, are mandatory.
