The City of Wentzville is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency calls, investigate crimes, and provide assistance to citizens as needed.
  • Conduct searches, detain suspects, and gather evidence to support investigations.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and best practices.
  • Provide education and outreach to the community on crime prevention and safety.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Police Academy graduate or Missouri Peace Officer Certification (POST) required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Two years of related experience desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field desired.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Maintain continuing education hours annually as required by the Missouri POST Commission.
  • Knowledge of the layout of the City.
  • Proficiency in the use of basic business software and essential office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively and to de-escalate tense situations.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work and concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to use good judgment and think quickly in difficult or stressful situations.
  • Ability to identify potential liabilities and minimize negative exposure.
