Patient Access Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at LifeCare Medical Center. As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a warm and welcoming experience. Your primary responsibility will be to register and schedule patients, ensuring accurate patient identity and demographic information.
Key Responsibilities- Register patients with correct patient identity and accurate information within the electronic record system (Epic)
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain patient consent for treatment
- Schedule appointments and check in patients
- Scan consent forms, EKGs, and other documents as requested into Epic
- Complete missing account information through assigned work queues
- Work closely with other departments to ensure patients receive services (ED Nursing, Lab, Imaging)
- Monitor patient and visitor access through the Emergency Department entrance during the night
- Clean Admitting work area and adjacent public areas when needed
- Education in the medical field, medical office assistant certification, or medical terminology
- Experience in patient access role preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
