About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Labor Affairs Specialist to join our team at Metalsa. As a key member of our Human Development department, you will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical support in functional areas of Human Development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee and labor relations, with experience in maintaining and fostering productive working relations with employees and unions. You will lead Collective Bargaining Agreement and Collective Bargaining, develop and implement policies to ensure consistent treatment for employees, and coordinate initiatives to encourage employee feedback and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and foster productive working relations with the UAW and employees
  • Lead Collective Bargaining Agreement and Collective Bargaining
  • Develop and implement policies to ensure consistent treatment for employees
  • Coordinate initiatives to encourage employee feedback and engagement
  • Engage in problem-solving activities to improve HD processes
  • Train management and provide support in the interpretation of company and plant policies
  • Investigate and resolve employee issues
  • Manage the administration of local labor contracts
  • Lead the process for review and resolution of employee grievances
  • Advises coordinators and collaborators on sensitive labor and employee relations matters
  • Manage turnover and absenteeism analytics and insights
  • Assists managers in identifying employee relations issues and determining appropriate course of action
  • Stay abreast of current knowledge of employee and labor relations trends, legal decisions, and statutory changes
  • Conducts research necessary to support contract negotiations and employee relations

Requirements:

  • PHR or SHRM CP Certification preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or HR related field and minimum of 3-5 years in HR manufacturing field required or 5-10 years of HR experience in a manufacturing setting
  • FMLA and Medical Leave Administration Experience required
  • Knowledge of State and Federal laws required
