About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Local Waste Management Specialist to join our team at Republic Services. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a collection truck while driving through neighborhoods and communities across the country. As a valued member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing reliable, friendly, and consistent service to our customers who rely on us for an essential service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a collection truck to collect waste and/or recycling along a designated route and transfer to a disposal site.
  • Collaborate with Dispatch, your Supervisor, and the rest of the driver team to service our customers on different routes and schedules.
  • Unload waste and/or recycling materials at landfills, recycling centers, or similar facilities.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of your vehicle to ensure it is in good working order and address any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and adhere to all required safety policies.
Requirements
  • Hold a Class B or higher Commercial Driver's license with air brakes endorsement.
  • Be able to navigate using maps and/or GPS devices.
  • Work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, some holidays, and weekends.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills to complete assigned routes efficiently and safely.
  • Be adaptable to changing circumstances and situations.
  • Utilize effective problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges.
