Job Title: Acquisitions Librarian

Job Summary:

The Acquisitions Librarian is responsible for selecting and recommending titles for purchasing materials to meet the academic needs of library users. This role requires a strong understanding of university and state purchasing and accounting regulations, as well as emerging trends and best practices in academic librarianship.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the acquisitions department, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining the list of available resources.
  • Develop and formulate rules and regulations to ensure smooth flow of the acquisition department, adhering to high-quality standards.
  • Implement strategies to ensure professional development and manage expenditures and plan budgets.
  • Interview, recruit, and recommend hiring of acquisition staff members; train staff.
  • Organize, manage, and delegate workload to ensure achievement of university goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with librarians to acquire materials that support the university curriculum.
  • Serve as a consultant for faculty and staff in the acquisition of departmental resources.
  • Teach scheduled classes.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited school.
  • Two years' experience providing library instruction.
  • Three years' professional experience in the field of Library and Information Science.
  • Demonstrated experience using current educational technologies and multimedia tools to deliver or enhance teaching, learning, and/or user services in both physical and online environments.
Work Environment:

This role requires frequent travel and occasional extended work hours. The successful candidate will be able to work in a noisy environment and exert up to 20 pounds frequently.
