Job Summary

The Acquisitions Librarian is responsible for selecting and recommending titles for purchasing materials to meet the academic needs of library users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the acquisitions department, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining a list of available resources.
  • Develop and formulate rules and regulations to ensure high-quality standards and a smooth flow of the acquisition department.
  • Implement strategies to ensure professional development and growth within the department.
  • Manage expenditures and plan budgets to optimize resource allocation.
  • Interview, recruit, and recommend hiring of acquisition staff members, providing training and support as needed.
  • Organize, manage, and delegate workload to ensure achievement of university goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with librarians to acquire materials that support the university curriculum.
  • Provide consulting services to faculty and staff on acquisitions of departmental resources.
  • Teach scheduled classes as needed.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited school.
  • Two years' experience providing library instruction.
  • Three years' professional experience in the field of Library and Information Science.
  • Demonstrated experience using current educational technologies and multimedia tools to deliver or enhance teaching, learning, and/or user services in both physical and online environments.
