The work schedule for this role consists of three 8-hour shifts from 3 PM to 11:30 PM, including every other weekend.
The Patient Observation Specialist embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensures continuous safety monitoring through video surveillance of patients identified as being at risk of self-harm or harm to others.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing basic comfort measures to help patients feel at ease and addressing their emotional needs through encouragement, distraction techniques, coping strategies, cognitive stimulation activities, and de-escalation methods as appropriate.
Conducts observation of multiple patients via continuous video monitoring from a designated area away from the patients.Additional responsibilities include:
Effectively redirecting patients engaged in risk behaviors through verbal communication and alerting appropriate staff using communication devices or alarms when necessary.
