Crown Pre-School Educational Aide

POSITION SUMMARY

The Crown Pre-School Educational Aide assists in delivering educational support as directed by a certified educator, working under the guidance of the site administrator and the Director of Pre-School and Child Care. This role involves performing clerical and supportive tasks to alleviate routine office responsibilities for instructional staff, thereby enhancing the learning experience for students in designated areas. The aide plays a crucial role in classroom management, providing individualized instruction and small group support, alongside completing various clerical duties as assigned.

WORK LOCATION: Crown Pre-School: Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) - Village Elementary

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement daily instructional activities based on a structured activity plan;
  • Maintain accurate records for students, families, and program documentation;
  • Ensure a safe and conducive preschool environment;
  • Assist the Preschool Teacher in conducting assessments and documenting student progress, health, and nutrition;
  • Guide and supervise children in the classroom and playground, ensuring proper use and care of equipment;
  • Participate in staff and parent meetings;
  • Support the teacher in supervising preschool children during academic activities;
  • Prepare the classroom and instructional materials for student engagement;
  • Assist with meal services for children;
  • Accompany children to and from transportation;
  • Monitor student behavior and report on performance and conduct;
  • Engage in professional development and training programs;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the educational standards and policies of the organization.

  • Competence in caring for preschool children and maintaining a hygienic classroom;
  • Physical capability to engage in activities such as kneeling and sitting on the floor for extended periods;
  • Ability to travel as required for the role;
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Attendance at meetings and training sessions;
  • Accurate record-keeping in compliance with regulations;
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of NCLB paraprofessional Test or possession of an AA Degree;
  • Familiarity with English grammar, spelling, and vocabulary;
  • Understanding of safe practices in educational settings;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Professional demeanor and appearance;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Completion of six (6) units in early childhood education (ECE);
  • General knowledge of preschool program regulations and guidelines.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

CONDITIONS
  • Work is conducted in a safe and clean environment;
  • Responsibilities may require travel to various locations within the district;
  • Typical work settings include classrooms and instructional spaces.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of items;
  • Frequent movement including stooping, kneeling, and crouching;
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills;
  • Position entails a mix of sitting, walking, and standing;
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds;
  • Effective hearing and speaking capabilities;
  • Visual acuity to monitor student activities;
  • Dependability and physical fitness are essential.
