Position Summary

WSP is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Vice President Civil Engineer - Ground (Waste Engineer) to join our team. This role will focus on leading civil and environmental engineering projects, particularly in waste management facility design and permitting, stormwater management, and landfill gas management. The position involves managing project teams and requires occasional travel and fieldwork as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and guide project design teams in the execution of civil engineering projects.
  • Manage significant projects within the Solid Waste Sector, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering design reports and proposals.
  • Direct construction quality assurance programs and ensure project deliverables meet high standards.
  • Engage with clients and regulatory agencies to foster strong relationships and secure new project opportunities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide strategic leadership within the civil engineering discipline.
  • Lead complex civil engineering projects, managing budgets, timelines, and subcontractor performance.
  • Serve as a liaison with external entities, including government agencies and industry groups.
  • Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets while ensuring adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions for clients.
  • Maintain ethical decision-making and uphold WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Adapt to changing project needs and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a valid Texas PE registration.
  • At least 10 years of experience in civil engineering design.
  • Experience in solid waste containment systems, permitting documents, and landfill gas management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a positive work ethic.
  • Engineer license required; multi-state registration preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to foster cooperation among diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project requirements.
