Tax Examination Technician

This position is located in the Small Business/Self-Employed (SB/SE) Division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The selected candidate will provide support to Revenue Agents in conducting examinations of tax returns and investigating alleged tax fraud.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Revenue Agents in conducting examinations of tax returns and investigating alleged tax fraud.
- Locate, search, and document specific information from records of individuals, corporations, banks, and other entities.
- Prepare, verify, and assemble work papers, schedules, and exhibits to support the examination process.
- Communicate with taxpayers and other stakeholders to gather information and resolve issues.
- One year of specialized experience in a related field, such as tax law, accounting, or auditing.
- Experience using automated systems, such as Accurint and IDRS, to research taxpayers and provide written reports.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This position requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will be required to undergo a background investigation and obtain a security clearance.
