Job Summary

At Backus Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. As a Registered Nurse in this fast-paced environment, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients and provide high-quality care in a collaborative and supportive team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to patients in the Emergency Department, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Monitor patients' conditions and respond to changes in their status
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred
  • One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program required
  • BLS required. Ability to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certifications within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain administration of moderate sedation within 9 months of hire
  • Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut
  • Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred
