With a dedicated workforce of over 1200 employees and more than 70 program locations across Nassau and Suffolk, ACLD is committed to assisting children, adolescents, and adults in attaining their utmost independence while pursuing their aspirations.
We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to fill roles in a residential environment, aiding adults diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their journey towards self-sufficiency and personal growth. This entry-level position offers a pathway into the healthcare and education sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support residents in achieving and surpassing their individual objectives
- Provide consistent structure and emotional guidance
- Assist in managing behavioral challenges
- Facilitate personal hygiene and daily living needs
- Maintain thorough and precise documentation
- Transport participants to medical appointments and recreational activities using agency vehicles
Qualifications:
- Valid NYS Driver's license with a clean record
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred; training will be provided
- Cooking and light housekeeping duties may be required
- Must obtain AMAP and SCIP certifications within six months of employment
- Previous roles as Caregiver, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide, or Companion are advantageous
