Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Core Facility Technologist to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing specimen collection kits, delivering prepared kits to outpatient oncology clinics, the Central Processing Core, and other locations on campus. This role requires excellent time management skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare specimen collection kits and complete requisition forms for subject visits.
  • Use the electronic inventory/barcode system to record prepared or destroyed kits and supplies.
  • Help receive, organize, and maintain kit and supplies inventories, including breaking down expired kits and sorting recycled supplies.
  • Transport kits to outpatient oncology clinics, Central Processing Core, and other locations on campus.
  • Pick up kits or materials from other departments on campus for transport to the Central Kit facility.
  • May assist with training of new staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field OR High school diploma or graduation equivalent or AA degree with some science coursework and laboratory experience performing relevant techniques may substitute for education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
  • Some related post-undergraduate work experience.
  • Certificate from technical institute or internship experience.

Total Rewards

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training, and other qualifications. Johns Hopkins offers a total rewards package that supports our employees' health, life, career, and retirement.

Education and Experience Equivalency

Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college coursework may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
