Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team at Northwell Health. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care and demonstrate expertise in various medical procedures and treatments.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations to assess patients' overall health and identify potential health issues.
  • Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses and injuries, as well as manage chronic health conditions.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments as necessary to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures such as IV insertion and spinal taps with precision and accuracy.
  • Educate patients on disease prevention and health maintenance to empower them to take control of their health.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic health record systems like Athenahealth.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
  • Assist in sterile processing of medical equipment to ensure it is properly cleaned and maintained.
Requirements
  • Proficient in conducting physical assessments and interpreting diagnostic tests to make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to understand the complexities of the human body.
  • Experience in working with people with developmental disabilities to provide compassionate and individualized care.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems and practices to navigate complex medical environments.
  • Competency in sterile processing techniques to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Ability to perform IV insertions and spinal taps with precision and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with Athenahealth or similar electronic health record systems to maintain accurate patient records.
