Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Cardiology team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, and contribute to the growth and development of our academic hospital program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a wide range of health care services, including diagnosis and management of acute, chronic, and complex health problems
  • Health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling to individuals, families, groups, and communities
  • Obtain and evaluate medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order laboratory studies, radiographs, electrocardiograms, and other special examinations
  • Make arrangements for further care if appropriate and serve as a consultant to other providers
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of staff, including trainees and a multidisciplinary staff in a fast-paced educational and collegial environment
  • Develop and implement evidence-based nursing protocols and organize educational activities targeted toward staff training and development
  • Independently manage a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
  • Provide education to patients and their families
  • Evaluate performance measures related to Heart Failure
  • Assess and adjust the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes

Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Apost-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner from a school of professional nursing
  • Active, current, full and unrestricted APN license to practice as a NP in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Nurse Practitioner Board Certification

Preferred Experience and Certifications:

  • Cardiology
  • Cardiology Subspecialty

Grade Determinations:

The grade level of a NP is based on a combination of education and experience. The full performance level of this vacancy is Nurse III.

Physical Requirements:

The incumbent must be physically, emotionally, and mentally stable in order to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to themselves or others.

Education:

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
