OVERVIEW:

The Senior Reliability Architect will spearhead the technical initiatives and provide mentorship to fellow Reliability Engineers (RE), Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Architects. This role is pivotal in developing mission-critical infrastructure, enhancing tools, driving performance improvements, and delivering actionable insights to stakeholders.

The Senior RE is expected to collaborate with management, peers, and clients to design, construct, and implement the technical vision. This includes enhancing monitoring tools, refining error detection, eliminating defects, and improving overall service availability and customer satisfaction.

The RE position at DICK'S Sporting Goods (DSG) offers a unique opportunity to merge system architecture, design, and software engineering expertise with a strong focus on troubleshooting and defect resolution, addressing the evolving challenges of scalability and reliability.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Software Development:

Oversee the development of complex existing and new software by assessing and identifying areas for enhancement within various product teams. Create and implement software that is efficient, secure, and dependable to meet specified requirements.


Design and Conceptualization:

Facilitate a collaborative design process by gathering insights across all product portfolios to establish a viable and scalable design system that reinforces the brand. Lead a multidisciplinary team that contributes to the evolution of the solution.


Technical Development Recommendations:

Provide expert recommendations for innovative technical developments to enhance software quality and solutions, aligning with user and business performance needs.


Software Roadmap:

Manage the comprehensive roadmap of portfolio-level performance engineering capabilities to streamline software development, ensuring that development efforts are prioritized according to business needs.


Work Scheduling and Allocation:

Develop medium- to long-term work schedules that empower the organization to meet its business objectives, coordinating across multiple teams and managing on-call rotations.


Program/Portfolio Management Support:

Assist in the management and prioritization of a portfolio of programs while collaborating with senior colleagues.


Functional/Technical Requirements:

Gather complex functional requirements through various methods such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis, articulating these requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.


Database Design and Development:

Lead the design of intricate database resources, providing physical modeling and design services to optimize database solutions for peak performance across multiple programs/domains.


Data Architecture and Specifications:

Drive the design, implementation, and evolution of robust architecture solutions that function effectively within the cross-product/domain ecosystem. Approve database specifications, ensuring adherence to agreed standards and protocols while preserving data integrity.


Network Design and Troubleshooting:

Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot network latency and throughput issues, recommending design patterns for resilience and performance enhancements.


Information Security:

Lead efforts in detecting and analyzing security incidents, including attacks, breaches, and vulnerabilities, while addressing any security gaps in accordance with established incident management procedures.

Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level
Experience advising others (Over 3 years to 6 years)
