Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute is seeking a highly skilled Research Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Biological Resources Unit (BRU), you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of animals housed in our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Train animal husbandry, veterinary services, and research personnel on proper animal handling, evaluations, and techniques.
- Perform duties of an Animal Surgery Technician and assist Veterinarians and investigators with special surgical, medical, or experimental techniques or procedures.
- Assist Veterinarians with the Sentinel Health Monitoring Program and work on Veterinary Services programs and projects with minimal supervision.
- Associate's degree from a Veterinary Technician program.
- Licensed as a Registered Veterinary Technician (VT) in the state where employed.
- Two years of experience with demonstrated competence as a licensed Veterinary Technician.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed scientific or medical instructions given by investigators and/or veterinarians.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to transport equipment, supplies, and/or animals weighing up to 75 pounds using carts with casters.
- Capable of tolerating a significant amount of standing, bending, and walking.
- May be required to work with biological, chemical, and radiation hazards after proper training.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
