Job Title: Grading Foreman

Contour Mining is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grading Foreman to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for guiding and directing activities on a given project while adhering to all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Carry out plans set forth by management and engineering, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Read and interpret engineered plans, staking out in the field to ensure accurate project execution.
  • Setup GPS base stations and GPS-guided equipment, ensuring precise project execution.
  • Perform JSA, tool box talks, and safety training/planning/communication specific to the project, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Communicate production issues and constraints, implementing plans to overcome them and ensure project success.
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored, maintaining a clean and organized work site.
  • Participate in routine equipment maintenance, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Practice 'Safely, All Day,' maintaining a culture of safety within the team.
  • Complete daily fuel, load count, and hour logs, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Complete daily workplace examinations, repairing deficiencies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain all credit card receipts, coded correctly, and complete expense reports turned in weekly.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times, representing Contour Mining positively.
  • Maintain company vehicles to company standards, ensuring a clean and well-maintained fleet.
  • General daily preventative equipment maintenance, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Maintain current tool inventory in maintenance trailers/trucks, ensuring all necessary tools are available.
  • Maintain fuel tank levels and inventory, communicating with management for deliveries.
  • Keep the job site clean, prepared for inclement weather, and on track, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Maintain all erosion control devices, reporting deficiencies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Guide and lead the crew in all daily activities, ensuring a productive and efficient work site.
  • Perform minor emergency repairs on equipment as needed, ensuring minimal downtime.
Requirements:
  • Must have a valid driver's license with less than (3) moving violations in (3) years.
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
Working Conditions:

The Grading Foreman position is a physically strenuous and mentally demanding job. The foreman will be lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment and objects. The foreman will have to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and must be prepared for both.

The foreman must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient manner. The foreman must work outside in all different weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat, and may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances. The foreman must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose, and skin from irritation and infection.

The foreman must work with the team and is expected to maintain a schedule of work. Proper and efficient management of all projects is required. Any variation from these means that lengthens the project not caused by unforeseen conditions is unacceptable. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress to complete tasks in a limited time.
