We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Southampton Memorial Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing complex laboratory procedures and analyzing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Routine and Complex Laboratory Procedures: Conduct a range of laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and microbiology, to diagnose and monitor patient conditions.
  • Interpret and Analyze Results: Accurately interpret laboratory results and communicate findings to healthcare providers to inform patient care.
  • Identify and Correct Problems: Identify and correct problems within the laboratory, including equipment malfunctions and quality control issues.
  • Operate and Maintain Laboratory Equipment: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Perform Quality Control: Conduct quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
  • Assist with Inventory and Scheduling: Assist with inventory management and scheduling to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
  • Conduct Competency Assessments: Conduct competency assessments to ensure that laboratory staff are proficient in their roles.
Requirements
  • MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification: Possess a Medical Lab Scientist certification or be eligible for certification by a nationally recognized certification agency.
  • Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry from a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program.
  • Work Experience: Have completed an externship program or have relevant work experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
