This is a project-based role that offers flexibility in employment type, including full-time, part-time, or contract options. The position is primarily based in our Las Vegas, NV office.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Vanguard Integrity Professionals is seeking a skilled Senior Software Developer specializing in IBM iSeries (AS/400). The successful candidate will join a team of highly qualified professionals to engage in intricate product design, systems analysis, and programming tasks that may necessitate extensive research and development. This role also encompasses detailed bug analysis, remediation, verification, release testing, and beta support for designated products. This is a senior-level position that operates with limited supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Senior Software Developer – IBM iSeries (AS/400), your responsibilities will include:
- Proficient development in RPG-IV ILE and free/CLLE/SQL/DDM.
- Expertise in IBM Rational Developer for IBM I.
- Capability to handle XML and HTML encapsulated text I/O in local IFS stream files.
- Understanding of i5/OS DB2/STMF/DTAQ data flows and command APIs, with a focus on encryption and security.
- Leading the design and implementation of significant new software features.
- Participating in and supporting the Peer Review process with colleagues.
- Maintaining existing product functionality throughout its lifecycle.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
- Strong experience in designing and developing complex software applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in software development for IBM i series (i5/OS or OS/400) on HMC managed IBM Power Systems.
- Experience in developing security software systems is advantageous.
- Ability to quickly learn new applications and technologies.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to plan and execute tasks independently as well as collaboratively.
- Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with IBM Mainframe (z/OS, z/VM) as a user, administrator, or programmer is a plus (but not mandatory).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Salary Range: $75,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience.
