Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Educator plays a pivotal role in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational initiatives within specific clinical specialties. Utilizing adult learning principles, this position is dedicated to developing and executing educational programs for healthcare staff, patients, and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
The Clinical Nurse Educator serves as a consultant and catalyst for change in establishing clinical care standards. This role involves applying change theory to clinical practices and fostering effective communication with healthcare team members, patients, and staff.
Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and hold a current state-specific license as a Registered Professional Nurse. Additionally, a master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required, or candidates must be enrolled in a program leading to an MSN within one year of employment, with completion expected within three years. Certification in Nursing Professional Development or a clinical specialty is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of three years of direct clinical experience in the relevant specialty, along with demonstrated teaching abilities, leadership skills, and clinical nursing expertise, is essential.
Essential Duties:
- Orientation and Onboarding: Collaboratively develop and assess the orientation program for nursing staff and leaders.
- Competency Management: Participate in the ongoing assessment and development of staff competencies.
- Educational Development: Collaborate with nursing staff to identify educational needs and promote high-quality care.
- Professional Development: Encourage leadership skill development among nursing staff and provide clinical expertise for administrative decisions.
- Research and Quality Improvement: Engage in research activities to enhance clinical practice and support performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Work with educational institutions to coordinate learning experiences for nursing students.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary for the role.
- Participation in community activities is encouraged.
- Authorized access to medications and storage areas is granted for essential job functions.
