Job Summary

The Senior Design Engineer - Composites will be responsible for designing and analyzing composite and metallic parts and assemblies to meet customer requirements. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions that meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze composite and metallic parts and assemblies to meet customer requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions
  • Create and review CAD models and drawings to define design requirements
  • Apply principles of Advanced Product Quality Planning and Lean 6-Sigma to produce optimal, manufacturable product designs
  • Support initial fabrication and hand-off to manufacturing
  • Support product qualification, which may include analysis, in-house testing, or sub-contracted test facilities
  • Create, run, and post-process Finite Element Method (FEM) models using Abaqus software
  • Support Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Review presentations and associated reports
Requirements
  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 1-3 years of engineering experience preferred
  • Outstanding analytical and technical ability
  • Ability to work well within cross-functional teams and within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to translate analytical and theoretical concepts into practical, hands-on solutions
  • Must be able to read technical drawings, bills of material, and related documentation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with FEM methods and software, Abaqus preferred
  • Experience with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
