Aircraft Painter Job Description

At Synerfac, we are seeking a skilled Aircraft Painter to join our team. As an Aircraft Painter, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces for paint, mixing paint products, and applying paint products within allocated man-hour budgets and on schedule while maintaining quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work from drawings, sketches, pictures, or verbal specifications to layout design for painting aircraft, aircraft parts, and sub-assemblies.
  • Strip paint from aircraft, aircraft parts, and sub-assemblies.
  • Prepare surfaces to be painted by sanding, steaming, cleaning, and conversion coating.
  • Cover all areas to be protected from paint or stripper with proper materials.
  • Set up and operate all shop equipment and tooling.
  • Select and mix proper paint to the Manufacturer's specifications to meet job requirements.
  • Set up and use spray gun for proper application of urethane, lacquer, enamel, water base, and epoxy paints.
  • Touch up aircraft with brush and/or spray gun blend-in techniques.
  • Assist/train others in the performance of their job assignments.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA and Company safety procedures.
  • Accurately log computerized labor data collection system for work orders, time, and attendance tracking.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Complete assigned jobs within prescribed time.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of aircraft painting experience, including experience consistently applying a high-quality topcoat application to specific aircraft specs.
  • Ability to work from designs or verbal instructions to perform layout design.
  • Familiarity with applicable manufacturer standards and Company procedure governing the care and treatment of aluminum.
  • Ability to use standard spray paint equipment, buffers, paint guns, sanding equipment, dual action orbital sander, and common hand tools.
  • Able to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to repeatedly climb and descend scaffolds, ladders, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Able to wear a respirator and pass a pulmonary function test.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electrostatic paint spray equipment.
  • Familiarity with Non-Chromate High Solids Paint Systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.

Working Conditions:

Work location for this position is in a climate-controlled hangar, with occasional outside work. Involves exposure to chemicals and dust levels set by OSHA standards.
