Currently, SpaceX is advancing the technologies necessary to make this vision a reality, with the ultimate aim of establishing human presence on Mars.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS SECURITY OFFICER (ISSO) - TOP SECRET CLEARANCE

We are seeking a seasoned information security expert with extensive technical expertise in information assurance and a solid history of overseeing the evaluation and accreditation of information systems within secure settings. As a vital member of the National Security Team, you will hold primary accountability for the authorization and accreditation of classified systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a demanding environment with minimal direct supervision (aside from guidance from the ISSM) and possesses a high level of responsibility and accountability. We value self-starters and self-motivators with impeccable integrity who can excel in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the information systems security manager and system administrator to ensure adherence to governmental requirements and regulations, including NIST 800-53a and its derivatives. • Serve as a subject matter expert on government accreditation processes in classified environments. Be the go-to person for inquiries regarding processes, timelines, and the status of classified assets, and communicate requirements to the information system security manager.
  • Assist in drafting policies, procedures, and standards for the secure deployment and maintenance of classified information technology systems.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with government clients to maintain open communication as systems are developed and accredited. Respond to information requests promptly and thoroughly.
  • Engage actively in the accreditation, modification, and expansion of current information systems to support program needs. Provide technical expertise regarding the authorization and accreditation process.
  • Report to internal stakeholders and executive sponsors on status and timelines, both periodically and upon request.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • 3+ years of experience in roles such as ISSE, ISSO, or ISSM.
  • Possession of Security+, GSLC, GSEC, or other DoD approved 8570 Baseline Certification in Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level I or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II categories.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance or active Top Secret clearance with favorable completion of a U.S. Government polygraph. An active clearance may allow you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions, subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems/IT, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with the risk management framework (RMF) within both the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Knowledge of authorization, certification, and accreditation processes related to classified information systems.
  • Strong experience with tools such as XACTA, eMASS, ServiceNow, Nessus, Splunk, McAfee ePO, and other security solutions.
  • Basic understanding of computer networking and management of Windows/Linux systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability in technical project management.
  • Proven track record of delivering results efficiently and with high quality.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance or active Top Secret clearance with favorable completion of a U.S. Government polygraph. An active clearance may allow you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions, subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Willingness to travel to meet programmatic requirements.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet mission milestones and deadlines.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:

Information Systems Security Officer: $110,000.00-$145,000.00 annually.

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Those with an active clearance will receive a 10% differential, up to an additional $15,000 annually, once officially briefed into a classified program.

Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short & long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks are also included. You will accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays each year. Exempt employees are entitled to 5 days of sick leave annually.
