Intake LPN Role Overview

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists is a leading healthcare organization dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. We are seeking a skilled Intake LPN to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Float between NYCBS locations as needed to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Update and maintain electronic patient records, transitioning hard copy records to digital format.
  • Record patient information, including vital signs, weight, and medical history.
  • Prepare examination rooms and assist with front office tasks, such as answering phone calls and greeting patients.
  • Assist in maintaining medical inventory and ordering new materials as needed.
  • Measure and record vital signs, patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
  • Provide patient education on medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
  • Assist physicians with exams and perform phlebotomy, lab specimen collection, and basic lab tests.
  • Administer and document medication under a physician's order, adhering to the five medication rights to reduce medical errors.
Requirements:
  • Current NYS LPN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Previous experience in a lead role or demonstrated potential to act in a lead capacity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in OncoEMR.
  • Ability to travel to any NYCBS location.
