Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at Person First LA. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport customers to medical/dental appointments and community activities
  • Provide care and supervision, ensuring basic needs are met, including bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, continence, eating, and medication administration
  • Attend in-service training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Maintain a clean and orderly home environment, promoting a caring atmosphere for residents
  • Complete an on-site orientation, addressing program design, consumer IPPs, consumer rights, and emergency procedures
  • Report any resident requests, needs, changes, or observations to the Administrator
  • Encourage and assist residents with recreational, physical, social, and educational activities
  • Respond to resident requests and supervise residents and visitors signing in and out
  • Follow safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and standard precautions
  • Promote open communication between healthcare professionals, families, residents, and Administrator
  • Participate in all required training and observe and supervise residents
  • Report any abuse or suspected abuse
  • Provide assistance with daily living activities, personal care, and recreational activities
  • Maintain the facility in a neat, safe, and sanitary condition
  • Assist in resident crises, following facility policy and basic first aid training
  • Care for cognitively impaired residents using techniques for addressing unique needs and behaviors
  • Demonstrate understanding and support of Resident Rights, maintaining resident privacy and confidentiality
  • Ensure residents and guests sign in and out of the facility
  • Perform food service duties, including meal preparation, serving, and clean-up
  • Perform housekeeping services, including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, and laundry
Requirements
  • 1 year of caregiving experience
  • High school or equivalent (preferred)
  • Driver's License (preferred)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred)
  • CPI Certificate (preferred)
