Job Summary:

Maintain and repair off-road equipment, primarily forklifts, scrubbers, walkie-rider lifts, straddle jacks, and pallet jacks, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions to determine necessary repairs.
  • Order and procure parts and supplies through the company's procurement process.
  • Perform cutting, welding, or grinding to complete repairs.
  • Conduct scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance in accordance with company and industry standards to maintain cost efficiency and up-time for warehousing and facility maintenance operations.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance files as per company protocol.
  • Immediately repair or remove from service any unit that does not meet company or OSHA safety standards to prevent exposure to risk or injury.
  • Provide necessary tools and diagnostic equipment to efficiently maintain company off-road equipment.
  • Occasionally make repairs at other company branches or off-site locations.
  • Adhere to strict safe working practices, company policies, rules, and regulations, and correct obvious hazards immediately or report to supervisor if not immediately correctable.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of on-the-job experience as a forklift technician.
  • Military experience may substitute for some requirements.
  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) certifications are a plus.
  • Must be able to safely operate a pallet jack and electric forklift.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and driving record within MVR policy guidelines.
Physical Demands:
  • Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
  • Frequent climbing, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering dolly, hand truck, bay roll-up doors, straps, curb ramps, truck doors, boxes, cases, kegs, truck gear shift.
  • Ability to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholds.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 100lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling: up to 100lbs force for turning wrenches, pulling out parts.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl to inspect and/or wash vehicles.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to hear voice commands in areas with a high level of background noise.
  • Ability to demonstrate or learn to safely handle large trucks in a critically safe and precise manner within very constrained and compact areas.
Working Conditions:
  • All weather conditions (indoor & outdoor) including high temperatures, cool/cold temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain, fog, hail, sleet, and snow.
  • Daylight, twilight, evening, and dark lighting conditions.
  • Noise, vibration, dust, dirt, airborne particles, fumes.
  • Work hours will vary daily due to business needs.
