Job Description

Duke Health seeks a skilled Clinical Operations Specialist to join its Patient Revenue Management Organization (PRMO). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the entire health system in streamlining the revenue cycle, from scheduling to billing. This individual will coordinate and participate in various duties associated with daily clinic preparation, patient identification, charge posting, cash management, and patient appointment scheduling. Providing exceptional customer service, managing messages, scheduling ancillary services, and ensuring accurate referrals are key responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Review next day patients and complete necessary preparation activities for clinic visits.
  • Enter pre-visit orders and prepare new patient charts, including picking up X-rays, office charts, medical records, reports, petty cash, and collections bags.
  • File history sheets, ancillary reports, and other required patient record documentation.
  • Return medical records.
  • Attach HIPPA/Medicare documents to encounter forms.
  • Verify patient demographic data and edit Maestro Care as needed.
  • Identify the correct patient account for visits and present required forms to patients.
  • Manage Maestro Care check-in files and respond to alerts.
  • Collect and post co-payments and balances due.
  • Prepare patient-specific chart documents and requisition/transmittal documents.
  • Coordinate labs and procedures as requested.
  • Prepare encounter forms and audit them for completeness and accuracy before batching.
  • Schedule tests and procedures.
  • Explain billing to patients according to PRMO credit and collection policies.
  • Determine cash to collect based on insurance plans.
  • Check-out patients and make return appointments by scheduling into correct types.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and answer phone calls, taking messages and delivering them to physicians, nurses, and others.
  • Report obtained medical information accurately, completely, and timely, disseminating messages according to practice communication standards.

Salary Estimate:$45,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
